Chicago-based startup Earshot announced this week that it has raised $1.7 million in funding.
Earshot is a social media marketing startup that combines real-time location data with customer social media profile data to better connect companies with potential consumers. Earshot captures social media posts within defined geo-fences, and allows companies to engage with potential customers based on the content and location of the post. In the example from the above photo, Jenna B. posts to twitter that she needs an umbrella, and using Earshot, nearby umbrella salesman Jake B. lets her know that she can find one at his store just around the corner.
The recent round of funding comes from Mohr Davidow Ventures, TriplePoint Capital, Birchmere Ventures, Serra Ventures, and Point B Capital, according to Techcrunch.
Earshot boasts an impressive lineup of clients, including the Chicago White Sox, Nissan, SFX Entertainment, and IBM.
