In the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, we are seeing firsthand how the fear surrounding an illness can rapidly increase and intensify due to a situation's uncertainty. Since it's difficult to test individuals and identify who has been infected, along with the absence of a cure, it's almost impossible to truly predict the growth rate of COVID-19.

For Seth Conger and Mark Osborn, co-founders of MIOS Health, the way the world views the coronavirus is reminiscent of the way it has continuously viewed Alzheimer's disease. There's so much fear from the unknown encompassing the disease, and no known cure, that most believe there's nothing that can be done to prevent it. But what if there was an opportunity to dramatically lower your risk of cognitive decline?

MIOS Health, founded in 2019, blends personalized precision medicine with behavior design, technology, and education to reverse cognitive decline's effects, increase cognitive performance, and empower an individual to reach their health goals.

This personalized program allows MIOS Health to partner with the individual, their family, and their current medical team for optimum results. And because of their virtual basis, programs are available for residents across the United States with minimal or no travel required.

"Our programs have been designed from the ground up to be completed from the comfort of your own home, are tailored to address each and every one of these unique challenges, and capitalize on an asset most of us have more of now: free time," Conger, co-founder and CEO of MIOS Heath, explained. "Time used wisely now that will create more healthy, vibrant and enjoyable time down the road."

To start, an interested individual will review an introductory video and program guide to better understand both cognitive decline and the approach MIOS Health is taking to reversing its effects. From there, the individual will fill out a short questionnaire that addresses health concerns, symptoms, their support system, and goals to see if they initially qualify to move forward in the process.

Then the individual will schedule their one-on-one discovery call with a brain health results experts, during which time a plan of action will begin to develop and next steps will be decided. The individual can then use the online application process to go through an at-home, cognitive function screening and a set of questionnaires. Both of these tools will help the team to establish a baseline for one's current brain function and health status, and reveal which program fits best for this person's needs. Once an individual has been accepted into one of the programs, they will move on to their personalized six-month program that provides everything necessary to improve both brain function and quality of life.

Being proactive about both one's health and lifestyle will better allow for the greatest opportunity to stop this disease in its tracks, which is why MIOS Health also contributes to an agricultural program that will impact future generations. For every individual who participates in the Reclaim Your Future program, MIOS Health works with Farmers Footprint to transform an acre of commercial farmland into an organic, non-pesticide space to produce more nutrient-dense food annually. Processed foods, chemicals, additives and the encompassing commercial farming practices have been found to have a negative impact on human health, while eating an organic and well-balanced diet is an essential part to a healthy outcome.

While most cases of Alzheimer's disease are diagnosed after age 65, cognitive decline can start to develop as early as thirty years prior to any signs of symptom. The earlier on someone starts to think about investing in their future brain and overall health, the better, the company said.
