Atom Power, networked energy company based in Huntersville, has added a new series with expanded features to its line of chargers for electric vehicles.

The E100 Series was created to charge multiple vehicles and fix electrical infrastructure challenges for deploying EV charging at scale. The technology features reliability of greater than 99% uptime, intelligent energy management capabilities and enhanced safety and security levels.

"EV charging infrastructure must be flexible to meet the needs of every customer," Kash Sethi, head of sales at Atom Power, told CBJ.

The E100 Series builds on Atom's existing E50 Series, the first solution for its Level 2 Chargers that utilizes the company's digital circuit breaker technology. Different from the E50 Series, the E100 solution can accommodate more EV ports, increased access control and payment options, plug-and-charge capabilities, revenue-grade metering accuracy and longer maximum wire length for more coverage.

"Extended wire lengths means vehicles can charge even further away from the power source, which is especially important for charging a large number of vehicles, tight garages or vast parking lots," Sethi said.

All of Atom Power's Level 2 EV charging systems now include the E100 Series.

Sethi said the new series comes amid growing customer demand for larger and more sophisticated EV charging deployments.

"The E100 Series will provide customers with the same proven reliability, plus the features they’re asking for today and the ones that they will need tomorrow," Sethi said.

Atom Power has been aiming for the company to become a global player in the electric vehicle-charging space. Sethi said EV charging is just the start of what its circuit breaker technology can achieve.

The company also has developed grid technology, which helps eliminate waste, boost efficiency and increase compatibility with distributed renewable energy sources.

"There are tremendous opportunities ahead for modernizing the grid, evolving the way power is delivered and consumed across a variety of applications and industries," he added.

The expansion comes as Atom Power's growth has been exponential since its founding in 2014. It was awarded incentives in July 2023 for major expansion plans in Huntersville, including the addition of 205 jobs in the area by 2026. The move would more than triple its N.C. workforce. That $4.2 million project also calls for expansion of Atom Power's corporate headquarters and its research, development and manufacturing operations.

In 2022, the company closed a $111.2 million funding round that saw South Korea-based SK Inc. become Atom Power's top outside investor.
