Fort Mill nonprofit Road to Hire has named a technology veteran as its new CEO.

Lisa Shasky, a former engineer at Charlotte-based Red Ventures, will oversee the organization's mission. Road to Hire was founded in 2014 based on work started at media company Red Ventures, which is also a sponsor of the nonprofit.

Shasky succeeds Kacey Grantham, who has served as Road to Hire's CEO since its inception. Grantham is a senior vice president of education at Red Ventures, according to her LinkedIn.

As CEO, she will help lead the organization's next phase. Road to Hire invests in young adults ages 18 to 25 who want high-level job skills but lack access to a college degree. The nonprofit offers apprenticeship and scholarship programs designed to help underrepresented students gain access to careers in science, technology, engineering and math, or STEM, fields.

"Lisa is a natural fit to lead Road to Hire’s next chapter — bringing passion and experience from the nonprofit space, a deep understanding of tech and a proven ability to connect with and guide teams," Ric Elias — founder and board member of the nonprofit, as well as CEO of Red Ventures — said in a statement.

Shasky brings more than 25 years of experience in corporate settings, business operations and technology to the table. She most recently worked in various roles at Red Ventures over the last five years. That includes being a mentor at Road to Hire during that time, helping students navigate life and build their careers.

"This is truly a dream opportunity for me," Shasky said in a statement about her new role. "Young adults in Charlotte deserve the opportunity to reach their full career potential — but too often, Black and brown young adults are not getting the same chances to succeed. I’m honored to lead our amazing Road to Hire team in reshaping how Charlotte looks and feels in the future for our most marginalized communities.”

Road to Hire has been set on growth over the recent years.

In 2022, the organization received $500,000 in funding from Cognizant to advance its tech workforce programs. Cognizant is a global company that works to provide communities with STEM education, industry-informed training and career pathways in technology.

Road to Hire was also awarded a $200,000 grant from Cognizant in 2021 to help the organization further execute its vision.
