RevTech Labs revealed its Class 17 cohort which includes 13 startups — the largest group in the accelerator program’s history.

Since 2012, RevTech Labs has hosted two cohorts annually, in the spring and fall, that focus on financial technology and insurance tech industries. The fall 2022 program kicks off this week, and the chosen startups will undergo a 14-week, intense hybrid program. Two weeks will be hosted on site in Charlotte. The startup founders, who are from all over the world, will work with RevTech’s advisory board and mentors while receiving funding from its venture firm.

The group of founders were selected through an internal screening process which initially connected with nearly 4,000 companies globally. RevTech Labs narrowed the companies down to 61 before choosing 13 finalists during selection week. None of those startups are based in the Charlotte region.

“We are immensely excited about the growth of the RevTech Labs accelerator with an expanded goal of 30 companies per year,” said Dan Roselli, co-founder of RevTech Labs, in a statement. “RevTech Labs and (Queen City) Fintech have been consistently recognized as one of the top global fintech and insurtech accelerators in the world for the last several years, and the increased founder demand has been tremendous.”

Sara Roselli, also co-founder of RevTech Labs, said the accelerator program’s alumni have raised more than $2.5 billion in venture capital from nearly 100 firms.

This year, she added, 61.5% of the class are traditionally underrepresented founders.

Meet the 13 fintech and insurtech startups in RevTech Labs' Class 17 cohort:
  • AleFi Technology Inc. of Miami
  • AssetVault Limited of London
  • Aurign, of Atlanta
  • DraftFuel Inc. of Lewes, Delaware
  • Habidatum of New York City
  • Ledgersync of Los Angeles
  • Nufi.mx of Monterrey, Mexico
  • Optikal Care Inc. of Atlanta
  • Reeske Inc. of Springfield, Massachusetts
  • RemitRix, of Ramat Gan, Israel
  • RMI Insights, of Denver, Colorado
  • SmartRIA of Knoxville, Tennessee
  • Tax Titans of Greenville, South Carolina

In an interview, CBJ spoke with the founders from Habidatum. The company offers data feeds and analytics to enhance commercial real estate financial models by using location risk data.

Alexei Novikov, president and co-founder, said fintech is a new area for the company. The startup, founded in 2014, joined the program to transform its data product.

“For us, it’s still quite a new space,” he said. “You may tailor fintech products without being a fintech member. So we would like to use and leverage the networks that RevTech has. We also appreciate the interesting mentors that we already have spoken to. For us, it's important both network-wise, expertise-wise and the investor-reach-wise.”

RevTech Labs provides founders with curriculum, mentorship, a custom advisory board and investment capital.

Novikov said the Habidatum was able to find partners and collaborators through other companies in the Class 17 cohort. In addition to its New York headquarters, the company has two locations in Europe. The founder said he is eyeing Charlotte as a key market for expansion, focusing on banking insurance.

“We really see the benefits of the international nature of the cohort, and we already started discussing potential international collaborations with some of the cohort participants,” added Katya Letunovsky, vice president and the other co-founder of Habidatum.

RevTech’s spring cohort applications close January 2023. Class 18 selection week will begin on Feb. 21.
