Cary video game giant Epic Games tops another list — this time for the millions in relief dollars it says it has raised to support Ukraine amid the war with Russia.

A new report out of gaming industry site Levvvel shows Epic’s fundraising partnership with Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) accounted for the vast majority of the close to $200 million the sector has donated to Ukraine’s humanitarian relief so far.

To date, the industry has put up nearly $196.5 million, according to the report. The vast majority of it was led by the Cary company.

Epic Games said in a recent blog post it had raised $144 million for programs to support humanitarian relief efforts in Ukraine, including groups such as the World Central Kitchen and UNICEF — all between March 20 and April 3.

The firm partnered with Microsoft's Xbox to commit net proceeds for Fortnite during that time period to relief efforts, “so that we can get more aid to the people of Ukraine.”

The top five in the Levvvel report are:

  1. Epic Games + Microsoft: $144 million
  2. Humble Bundle: $20.7 million
  3. Necrosoft + itch.io: $6.4 million
  4. Riot Games: $5.4 million
  5. Embracer Group: $5 million

Epic Games recently raised another $2 billion in outside capital for its own growth, this time from Sony Group Corp. (NYSE: SONY) and the parent company of Lego. The raise put its market cap at $31.5 billion.

The company, led by founding CEO Tim Sweeney, is in the process of turning a Cary shopping mall into a new headquarters.

And Ukraine isn't Sweeney's only philanthropic priority, as records show he's purchased hundreds of acres of land to donate to conservation groups.
