Sealed Air Corp. has promoted Emile Chammas to the newly created position of chief operating officer at the Charlotte-based packaging and automated processing manufacturer.

Chammas, 53, joined Sealed Air (NYSE: SEE) in 2010 and has served as chief transformation and manufacturing/supply chain officer since 2019.

The COO position was established for Chammas.

“This role recognizes the tremendous contributions Emile has made to the company and the importance of his leadership in the success of SEE,” says spokeswoman Christina Griffin. “As COO, he will continue to shape and execute SEE’s business strategy.”

Sealed Air also announced a small acquisition this week that will expand its digital printing process for packaging. It has acquired Foxpak Flexibles Ltd., a privately owned Irish company that pioneered the development of digital printing on flexible packaging.

The acquisition was handled by SEE Ventures, Sealed Air’s initiative for investing in disruptive technologies and business models to accelerate growth.

The company has 33 workers and has customers in 30 countries.

“Foxpak will build on our digital packaging solutions where graphic design and digital printing are key areas of value creation,” said Sealed Air CEO Ted Doheny. “Together we will accelerate our digital future with innovations in smart packaging for leading brands around the world.”

Sealed Air has not disclosed the purchase price of the transaction.
