Charlotte-based digital strategy and design firm Skookum has merged with sister company Method to better serve its clients.

Skookum was founded in 2005, and in 2019, was acquired by San Jose-based digital product engineering company GlobalLogic. Since then, the company has operated as a wholly owned subsidiary of GlobalLogic and retained all leadership and staff. GlobalLogic also owns Method, which led to the two teams collaborating, said Joe Ryan, head of Method and former Skookum president.

"As we started to integrate and work closely with sister company Method, one thing that was really clear was that most of the time, our customer recommendations and services overlapped," he said. "The root outcomes of our offerings were very similar, and it became confusing ... That was the first indication that we should be working much more closely and pull our offerings into one."

Ryan said combining the services of Skookum and Method "into one design-led engineering consultancy" meant being able to blend Method's strategic design focus with Skookum's product development capabilities. Ultimately, this has led to helping clients in a way they were unable to do separately.

"We are better together than we are apart," he said.

Ryan said Skookum's original offices in Charlotte, Atlanta and Denver will remain. Method's footprint also extends to New York City and London.

Though the company will now exist as Method, Ryan said current Skookum clients should expect the same high level of service they've always received.

"Our team, services and connection to the community will carry forward," he said. "From our tech talks to the meetups we sponsor and host, we want to make sure we're creating a space and environment to bring tech communities together."
