One of the region's largest event staffing agencies will soon begin using a new health status app to help its employees return to work safely.

The app, called Evident Health Status, was rolled out today and is designed to monitor potential Covid-19 exposure through tracking and connections to third-party health care sources, said Evident CEO David Thomas.

Todd Stewart, president of Show Pros, a regional event staffing company headquartered in Charlotte, said his company's decision to partner with Evident on the app was not made lightly.

"We were shut down immediately when Covid-19 hit, and we are pretty much still shut down, but we are preparing to reopen along with whatever the governor and health department dictates," he said. "We’re trying to be best prepared to start events again immediately. That’s, in part, why we’re teaming up with Evident."

The app helps employers monitor potential coronavirus exposure of their employees, allowing them to more easily collect real-time health information.

Thomas said the app is fully encrypted and requires user consent to protect employee privacy and serves three main purposes: to allow employers to communicate daily with employees to asses any symptoms; to pull in authoritative medical data to assist in decision-making; and to use risk scoring based on that data to ensure employees are safe to come to work.

"We're doing it in a way where employees feel comfortable that their privacy is protected, because not only is that imperative, but it’s regulated and required," he said. "The people who interact through the app always see the information in summarized form and always have to approve it before their employer can see it."

Davis said the app will be vital in helping companies like Show Pros bring employees back to work in a safe environment.

The Show Pro staff, Stewart said, will be informed directly about the app and can opt out of using it. He said use will not be required for employees to return to work.

"Our employees are confident in us," he said. "Use of the app will be one more level of communication with my employees where they’re checking in and getting feedback daily. I think that’s very important, not only for Show Pros, but for with our relationship with our staff."

Stewart said ensuring employee health and safety is of the utmost importance as facilities in the state begin to reopen, but he also has to think of the people attending events where his workers are staffed.

"We want our people to know we care about them. We want them to know we’re being proactive to make them safe. And we want our clients – the guests – to know we’re being proactive," he said.

Show Pros staffs events at large assembly facilities like Bank of America Stadium, Spectrum Center, Carowinds, Bojangles Coliseum, as well as facilities in Greensboro, Winston Salem, Greenville, S.C. and the Atlanta metro area.
