Bojangles' Inc. has a new big-name board member on its roster.
Serial entrepreneur, founder, investor and popular social media presence Gary Vaynerchuk has joined the chicken and biscuit chain's Board of Directors, where he and senior leadership will oversee the company's future.
"With Gary’s extensive experience in building brands and passion for disruptive innovation, he’ll bring a fresh perspective to Bojangles’ board,” said Bojangles' CEO Jose Armario. “We’re continuously looking for ways to enhance our value to customers, so we’re excited to have his ideas and leadership on the team.”
Vaynerchuk agreed.
“Bojangles’ is a standout brand primed for growth with an experienced and energetic new leadership team,” said Vaynerchuk. “I share their commitment to help make this brand even stronger because more people need to experience that real deal Southern flavor that only Bojangles’ can provide.”
Founded in 1977, Charlotte-based Bojangles' has 750 restaurants in 11 states. The company went public in 2015 and then, in September 2019, was taken private again by Durational Capital Management and The Jordan Company via a $593.7 million acquisition.
As for Vaynerchuck, he founded WineLibrary.com, one of the first e-commerce wine sites. Now, he serves as head of digital media agency VaynerMedia. He was an early investor in companies like Uber, Twitter and Venmo, and also runs popular online series, such as "DailyVee" and "#AskGaryVee."
