CrowFly’s been on quite a run these past few years. Now the Buffalo-based startup has named a new leader to keep the momentum going.

Company co-founder Nita Bhatia has been elevated from chief operating officer to CEO.

CrowFly is a marketplace for structured settlements, seeking to connect people who want to sell their settlements with a supply of potential buyers. It’s a world fraught with uncertainty and unethical actors – CrowFly’s founders say their tech-enabled platform brings a compassionate, transparent entity to the table.

“Our success has been attributable to the way we approach every conversation with our customers and partners,” Bhatia said. “We make sure these people, who are going through challenging financial times, are being treated with kindness and respect.”

Bhatia is hiring for five roles right now and expects her full-time team to increase from six to 15 this year. CrowFly’s dealflow is up 300% and revenue has increased 442% over the last two years, she said.

“We’re going to continue building out our org chart which will help us continue our growth,” Bhatia said. “We have only tapped a small portion of our potential market share and marketplace.”

CrowFly founders include John Bair and Tony Barnes. Bair recently passed the CEO role of Seventh Amendment Holdings to Amy Fogle, who will run its component businesses such as MIlestone Consulting. CrowFly also exists within the Seventh Amendment umbrella but is being spun out into its own business, Bhatia said.

It moved into its own space on Main Street in Buffalo in July (on the second floor of a building occupied by Milestone). The company plans to launch a new version of their software platform, which automates key parts of the sale, later this year.

Bhatia said it all points to the company moving into a new phase of growth after several years of learning what works.

“The growth potential is infinite for us at this point,” she said. “We have all the right things in place and we have learned a lot from our failures and successes over the past three years.”
