Software-as-a-service companies make up a big portion of the startup technology market.
One of its most successful CEOs is right in our backyard.
John Jahnke, CEO of Tackle, has been named one of the top 50 SaaS CEOs of 2021 by the Software Report, which considered thousands of nominations and conducted its own research. The Orchard Park resident ranked 38th overall.
Tackle’s software tools help customers acquire and integrate enterprise software – a burgeoning, multi-billion market. The company raised a $35 million round of venture capital earlier this year led by Andreesen Horowitz.
While the company is rapidly onboarding new customers, Jahnke said the crucial validation point is that customers are having success using Tackle.
Jahnke said the Software Report nod says more about the team than his individual accomplishments.
“It’s the work of the team that makes those things possible,” he said. “It’s one of those humbling moments that makes me proud of the work that we’re doing.”
Tackle embraced a fully remote work culture before the pandemic, and that has continued as its team has grown rapidly. It has gone from 67 employees in March to about 111 now, and expects to have nearly 300 workers by the end of 2022.
While the team prioritizes talent over location, employee clusters have formed throughout the U.S., Jahnke said. Western New York is now the largest of those clusters, with 12 employees who work in everything from engineering to sales to human resources.
Tackle is backed by two of the world’s top venture capital firms, has a leading place in a rapidly-growing segment of the software market and is quickly growing the team to meet the opportunity ahead.
“Our leadership knows that people are central to our success,” Jahnke said. “Team-building is a core priority to us.”
