CoachMePlus has been working with the U.S. military on research and development projects for several years.
The Buffalo-based firm took a big step toward expanding that relationship recently when it was awarded a five-year, $1.4 million contract to support the U.S. Army's Wounded Warriors program.
The program will use CoachMePlus software to support the rehabilitation of wounded veterans.
"These wounded warriors need different level of care, from a wounded knee to something as complex as PTSD," Kevin Dawidowicz, CoachMePlus co-founder and president. "This is a high-profile program for people who have given more than most for the protection of our freedoms."
Dawidowicz said CoachMePlus is working on pilot projects with three other military initiatives, including the Army's flagship Holistic Health and Fitness System and work under the Navy and Air Force.
CoachMePlus, which won a $250,000 award in the 43North competition in 2015, got its start working for professional and collegiate sports teams, using a high-powered fitness platform that tracks athlete health and fitness progress.
While that business remains stable, Dawidowicz said the company is seeing record quarterly revenue numbers for its fitness app, which allows trainers to personalize their service to customers.
"We doubled our footprint in the last quarter alone," Dawidowicz said. "And we're on track for an even better quarter coming up."
