The Prentice Family Foundation has invested in a Buffalo-based engineering firm to support its planned expansion.

Tresca Design plans to hire up to 40 workers over the next decade to support the growth of its specialized design and prototyping business.

Tresca was founded three years ago by Dan Buckmaster and moved recently into the Tri-Main Center, with eight employees and customers that range from local tech firms such as ACV Auctions to national medical transportation companies.

Tresca will also host the Prentice foundation’s Western New York Prosperity Fellowship Program with a student receiving a paid internship each summer, and plans to sponsor a Prosperity fellow in the future.

Buckmaster is an alumnus of the Prosperity Fellowship, and founded the company while he was a University at Buffalo student in the program.

“Dan is an excellent example of what we aim to achieve with the Fellowship Program by supporting the next generation of leaders who will start their own company and create jobs in our region,” said James Tanous, the foundation’s executive director.
