Squire
CEO: Songe LaRon
Founded: 2015
Headquarters: New York
What the company does: A business management software platform for independent barbers
After raising funds and rapidly growing, Squire is focusing on efficiency of operations.
The startup, which has its largest chunk of employees in Buffalo, aims to "celebrate, elevate and empower the barber community,” according to the company’s mission, using its business management software platform.
Since it was founded in 2015, Squire has raised about $165 million from a pre-seed round through Series D. That money has allowed the startup to scale rapidly, sustained it through the start of the pandemic and now allows it to work on effectiveness.
“We’re focusing on how we’re operating and making sure it’s efficient,” said Kevin Cheney, associate product manager who’s based in Buffalo.
The business is doing that through focusing on what metrics it's measuring and making sure those processes are measuring results in a meaningful way to drive results.
Squire, which employs 250 total and 20 locally, has consistently experienced 100% year-over-year growth and is on pace for continued growth this year, according to Cheney.
