M&A activity is springing into action in Boston.

Last month, tax provider Sovos made yet another buy, spending an undisclosed amount to acquire a Brazilian company called Fit Sistemas. Sovos made five acquisitions in 2020, and it looks like it's planning to keep up the pace this year. Meanwhile, elsewhere in Massachusetts, another company is on a growth spurt of its own. Allonnia, the bioremediation startup that spun out of Ginkgo Bioworks in October, made its first acquisition as part of a $20 million investment deal with Metabolik Technologies.

Only one company opted to disclose the terms of a transaction in March: Roivant Sciences spent $450 million to acquire Boston-based Silicon Therapeutics, a small molecule developer whose approach to drug discovery is fueled by quantum computational physics.
