#OfficeEnvy: Attivio's Mountain-Themed Office Towers Over Downtown Boston

On the 31st floor of the towering 100 Summer St. building in Downtown Boston, Attivio’s office aims to reach new heights of innovation.

Or at least, its mountain-themed conference rooms hold an aspiration to that claim.

Attivio is a Boston-based startup developing an AI platform to answer questions from employees, customers, and support teams. It helps new employees at companies find company resources, policies, and benefits more easily. Attivio's software also simplifies site searches and customer support systems.

“It’s like Google for big companies,” said Ben Shannon, conversion marketing manager at Attivio.

The 10,891-sq.-ft. office was designed by a small staff team. Its theme is based around mountains and mountain climbing: The lobby area is dubbed “Base Camp,” while the conference rooms sport the names of famous mountains such as Mt. Denali, the highest peak in Alaska.

The theme of heights is also reflected in the office’s location. From the Attivio office, you can see a panoramic view of Downtown Boston, the view stretching from the State Street building to the end of Route 93 off in the distance. The view frames Attivio’s main office space, which has an open and modern setup, promoting employee communication and collaboration.

Each department has its own labeled row, and although the rows are separate, they don’t feel divided. Attivio’s kitchen is likely responsible for this cohesion; it is strategically placed in the middle of the office, marking it as a gathering point for employees. Once a week, the company holds “Thirsty Thursday,” when all the employees get together to have a drink at the end of the day.

The building's café offers free coffee for employees in the morning. The floor also has complimentary beer and wine on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays and serves as a general break space for employees. There’s a pool table, arcade machines, a Lean Box healthy snack machine, and many more amenities.

Attivio was founded in 2007 and moved into its new office space in April. Right now, the company is settling into the new digs while focusing on building up its staff and growing its reach.
