June M&A deals: Akamai, Knownwell, Boston Scientific and more

June left us with a stark reminder of how quickly the weather can change in Boston. The M&A scene is a little less prone to such dramatic changes and stifling heat (so I’ve been told). Check out last month's mergers and acquisitions, courtesy of reporting by BostInno and the Boston Business Journal in June.

  • PowerSchool Holdings Inc., a provider of cloud-based software for K-12 education, entered a definitive agreement to be acquired by Bain Capital in a transaction valuing the Company at $5.6 billion.
  • Clearhaven Partners, a software private equity firm, acquired Zixi, a software provider that enables reliable, scalable, and cost-efficient live video transport over any Internet protocol network. The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
  • Wayne Alarm Systems Inc., a provider of life safety and security solutions, acquired SAS Security Systems, Inc. of Watertown, Massachusetts.
  • Boston Scientific Corp. acquired Silk Road Medical Inc. a medical device company specializing in products that prevent stroke in patients with carotid artery disease. The purchase price is $27.50 per share, reflecting an enterprise value of approximately $1.16 billion.
  • Knownwell, a Needham-based healthcare company, announced its acquisition of Alfie Health, an online medical and obesity management clinic. Knownwell declined to provide financial terms of the acquisition.
  • Cambridge-based Akamai Technologies Inc. signed a $450 million deal to buy Noname Security, a company that in 2021 had a unicorn valuation of at least $1 billion.
  • Wisk Aero, an Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) company, acquired Verocel Inc., a software verification and validation (V&V) company. 
  • Arcadia, a healthcare data platform, acquired CareJourney, a provider of healthcare data and AI-powered analytics and insights.
