Boston-based Cephable is leaving Austin with a win.

Cephable, an accessibility technology platform, was one of five Massachusetts companies competing at this year’s South by Southwest (SXSW) Pitch event. Cephable won the category of Innovative World Technologies.

Cephable’s platform analyzes and adapts to facial expressions, gestures, and other tendencies to help users interact in the digital world, bypassing inaccessibility challenges. Users of the technology can use voice, head movements, and expressions to use applications that would otherwise pose challenges for those with physical limitations. Of Cephable's employees, 75% identify as having a disability, according to the company’s website.

Winners were named in nine categories at this year’s SXSW. Besides a modest cash prize, the real benefit of a SXSW win is gaining a springboard for further funding and networking.

Cephable competed head-to-head with Cambridge-based Skyline Nav AI in the Innovative World Technologies category.

Other winners are:

  • Gan.ai (San Francisco, CA)
  • Swif.ai (Santa Clara, CA)
  • OpusClip (Redwood City, CA)
  • Applix (Austin, TX)
  • STMPatch (Storrs, CT)
  • Folio.works (Oakland, CA)
  • Lotus (San Jose, CA)
  • Paradigm Robotics (Austin, TX)
