When seeking out a new roommate, you might want to find someone with shared interests. If you’re in Boston and into tech, you are in luck.

Boston is the second-best city to find tech-minded people, according to data analyzed by New York-based SpareRoom, a roommate-finding platform.

Greater Boston beat out metro areas such as Austin, Seattle, and even Silicon Valley among potential roommates with tech interest. SpareRoom analyzed data from what 47,000 users submitted as an area of interest, and ranked cities for the most who listed interest in tech.

Baltimore took the top spot, with Boston in second place. Rounding out the top five are Seattle, Dallas and Las Vegas.

“San Francisco and New York might historically be key cities for tech, but they also have some of the most expensive rents in the U.S. So it’s no surprise people interested in tech are heading to cheaper cities,” SpareRoom spokesperson Matt Hutchinson said in a statement accompanying the report.

Austin ranked 11th, and the San Francisco Bay Area came in 13th.

According to SpareRoom, Virginia Beach roommates have the least interest in tech.
