A local leader known for bringing together and supporting the Boston startup community through his work at Silicon Valley Bank has taken on a new role at a recruiting company.

Jesse Bardo, the former managing director of founder success at SVB, is joining Hunt Club as general manager of New England.

Hunt Club is a Chicago-based recruiting company with a growing Boston contingent. Among the company’s local hires is serial entrepreneur David Chang, who joined Hunt Club in May 2022 as general manager of the expert community. Chang said they have nine Boston-area employees who work out of the company’s new space at Industrious in the Financial District.

“I am now pivoting to support companies through the vehicle of top talent rather than financial services. The focus on people is what inspired me to take this leap,” Bardo said in an email to BostInno.

Before spending five years with SVB, Bardo was the co-founder of EverTrue where he led sales, customer success and customer experience. The B2B SaaS company was backed by Bain and Techstars Boston and provided software and services for donor engagement.

“As a founder of EverTrue and then through working with countless companies at SVB, I've been able to witness up close what differentiates the most successful companies. Time and time again, it's the people,” Bardo said. “Having been an active participant in the New England tech network for many years, I have provided countless intros. This was a manual process until David Chang introduced me to the expert network at Hunt Club."

Hunt Club says it has a network of 8 million leaders and uses AI and machine learning to screen through and identify the best candidates for each specific role.

“I'm confident that Hunt Club's technology and growing network will be the difference-maker for tech talent. If we can place these industry leaders and doers at the right companies, we can continue to build with outsized impact regardless of the macro environment,” Bardo said.

Bardo said he aims to be a “magnet for all things talent in New England.” His new role will involve knowing the local companies that are hiring and the standout leaders looking for their next position.

“It feels like a natural progression in my career to be back on the operating side and supporting the tech ecosystem through its people,” Bardo said.
