M&A deal roundup: Beauty products, virtual reality and gene therapy

Check out the six mergers and acquisitions of tech and life sciences companies BostInno reported on in April. 

  • Consumer tech company Oddity acquired Boston-based Revela for $76 million. Revela is a biotech startup using AI-based molecule discovery for beauty and wellness.
  • Cancer biotech Spectrum Pharmaceuticals is getting acquired by Illinois-based Assertio Holdings Inc.
  • Boston-based XRHealth is merging with Barcelona-based Amelia Virtual Care. The new company will retain XRHealth’s name. XRHealth is using extended reality to help patients access the same outpatient services typically seen in brick-and-mortar clinics in their own homes.
  • Data analytics and advisory firm Escalent has acquired Boston-based C Space and Hall & Partners from Omnicom.
  • Ginkgo Bioworks has acquired the assets of StrideBio, a gene therapy startup headquartered in North Carolina.
  • Battery Ventures announced the sale of its portfolio company Newforma to Ethos Capital, a Boston-based private equity firm.
