Launching a startup is never easy, and Black tech founders face even greater challenges in an industry that’s largely white and mostly homogenous.
Funding remains a barrier. In 2021, Black-led companies received only 0.4% of the venture capital that went to Massachusetts companies. And Black workers are still underrepresented in tech roles, despite a push in recent years for companies to diversify their ranks from the top down.
