Six bluetech innovators will have a chance to pitch their products at a Boston-based event hosted by SeaAhead, a funder and supporter of early-stage ocean-based startups.
The Nov. 14 event at District Hall in the Seaport District will be co-hosted by Ørsted, the offshore wind developer behind several major East Coast projects, and by the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center.
In announcing the event, SeaAhead said the region’s offshore wind industry can spur innovation in the ocean-based economy, but that it can be difficult for startups to gain traction. The showcase aims to help startups and stakeholders make connections in the drive for a resilient blue economy.
Flash pitches will be delivered by the following companies:
- Aikido Technologies develops solutions for the floating offshore wind industry.
- Beex builds autonomous underwater vehicles and pairs them with software to help inspect underwater infrastructure.
- Clearwater AR combines an underwater video camera with mapping tools.
- Copernic Catalysts helps develop zero-carbon chemicals and e-fuels with a current focus on green ammonia.
- Keystone Tower Systems touts its "spiral welding" process to help build stronger offshore wind towers.
- SeaDeep uses machine vision to empower any autonomous underwater vehicle.
The event will feature a discussion with Ørsted Americas CEO David Hardy and MassCEC CEO Jennifer Daloisio. The talk will be moderated by Janet Wu of Bloomberg News. State Rep. Jeffrey Roy is scheduled to deliver closing remarks ahead of a networking happy hour.
SeaAhead, formed in 2018, touts its status as an "open-innovation ecosystem that produces scalable commercial solutions to modern-day challenges" in the blue economy.
