Boston TechJam is making its comeback. Get the event details.

Boston TechJam will return this summer after a two-year break due to the pandemic. And, for the first time in its eight-year history, the event is free to attend.

The block party-style event brings together startups, entrepreneurs, VCs, students and other community members to network and celebrate the New England innovation ecosystem. Boston TechJam says it expects around 3,000 attendees to join in this year’s festivities on Wednesday, Sept. 14.

This year’s event will be held at The Lawn on D and will feature the space’s trademark swings and lawn games, as well as locally-sourced craft beer and concessions.

Boston TechJam is inviting local companies to exhibit at the event. Interested companies can contact exhibit@bostontechjam.org for more details.

The event organizers also announced the entertainment lineup for the night. First up will be DJ Frank White from 4:00 – 6:30 p.m. The Boston DJ has worked for organizations like Red Bull, the Boston Red Sox, Mountain Dew, Converse and the Boston Calling Music Festival. Juice, a band formed by Boston College alumni, will take over from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. The six-piece band says it blends rock, pop, r&b and hip-hop.

Boston TechJam is organized by the Massachusetts Technology Leadership Council (MassTLC). This year’s underwriters are MassMutual, MathWorks, Northeastern University, PTC, Schneider Electric, Workhuman and Zipcar.

MassTLC was among the first groups in Boston to cancel its events as the pandemic picked up speed in mid-March of 2020. In 2019, more than 4,000 people attended TechJam at City Hall Plaza. Organizers said around seven thousand people came to TechJam in 2018.

“It’s the people behind the companies that have helped our tech ecosystem adapt and persevere over the past two years and we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate them,” Sara Fraim, VP of programs and policy at MassTLC, said in a statement. “I cannot think of a better way to do that than alongside our amazing partners and volunteers at this year’s Boston TechJam.”

Event organizers said attendees must be at least 18 years old and vaccinated against Covid-19 to attend Boston TechJam.
