NBC Universal's local television networks are offering innovation grants to Boston-area nonprofits looking to solve everyday problems in their communities.

NBC10 Boston, Telemundo Boston, NECN and the Comcast NBCUniversal Foundation’s Project Innovation will grant $315,000 to a maximum of 12 community organizations this year. These organizations must be working on projects in either community engagement, cultural inclusion, next-generation storytelling or youth education and empowerment.

Program rules, eligibility and applications can be accessed in English or Spanish. Nonprofits can submit applications now through Friday, March 25.

This is the fifth year these Boston stations have awarded Project Innovation grants. Since 2018, $990,000 has been given to 16 nonprofits in the Boston/New England community. Last year, a total of $315,000 in grants was divided between Boston Scores, Change is Simple, Doc Wayne, Chica Project, Silver Lining and National Braille Press Inc.

“Each of our outstanding grant recipients have enriched our community,” Chris Wayland, president and general manager of the NBC and Telemundo Boston properties and regional sports networks, said in a statement. “We are excited to recognize even more Project Innovation organizations and aid them in their pursuit of progress and innovation.”

Across all participating Comcast NBCUniversal markets, a total of $3.475 million dollars will be awarded to nonprofits this year through Project Innovation. Grant winners will be announced in summer 2022.
