VC funding update: Which Boston-area startups raised money in December

What a month, what a year. In some sectors, December is slow for business. Not so in Boston's startup scene, which saw companies raise upwards of $800 million in new capital, by our count. Here are some of the highlights, with handy links to our coverage or the company's announcements:

Boston dental AI startup Overjet raised $42.5M in an oversubscribed Series B round of financing.

UWill, a Needham company that is building an app to connect college students with licensed therapists, raised $5.25M in angel funding.

Lowell electric motor startup ePropelled announced a $15M Series A

Hometap, a Boston-based home equity startup, raised $60M in new capital.

Boston food waste startup Spoiler Alert raised $11M in a series A financing.

Cambridge gene therapy company Apic Bio raised $4M in debt financing, according to an SEC filing. 

Assette LLC, a Boston company which provides software for sales and client communications materials, raised $200K in equity, according to an SEC filing. 

Basil Systems Inc., a Boston-based health care product development company, raised $2.5M in equity, according to an SEC filing. 

EnBiotix Inc., a rare disease company focused on chronic respiratory disorders, announced the closing of an $11M pre-merger, convertible note round of financin.

Boston fintech Almond Finance, which is working on blockchain-based funds transfer infrastructure, raised $2M in seed funding led by Morningside Group. Almond will use the funds for hiring, product development and working on compliance requirements.

EIP Pharma, a Cambridge biotech company working on neurodegenerative diseases, raised $6M in equity, according to an SEC filing.

Scitara Corp., a provider of laboratory-specific, cloud-based software for the life sciences industry, raised $15M in equity, according to an SEC filing.

TireTutor, a Brookline-based automotive tire marketplace, raised $4.2M in equity, according to an SEC filing.

Certificate Hero, a Dedham-based SaaS platform for insurance brokers and their clients, raised $4.5M in equity, according to an SEC filing.

DermBiont, a Boston-based developer of topical therapeutics for skin diseases, raised $28M in Series A funding from Pivotal Life Sciences, Viking Global Investors, Olive Tree Capital, Toba Capital and Civilization Ventures. 

Nextuple, an Andover-based product & services firm for the retail industry, raised $650K in equity, according to an SEC filing. 

Mythic Therapeutics, a Waltham based developer of antibody-drug conjugates, raised $103M in Series B funding. 

hC Bioscience, a Cambridge-based protein editing startup, raised $11.9M in equity, according to an SEC filing. 

Boston corporate catering startup ezCater raised $100M in a Series D investment led by SoftBank Vision Fund 2.

Herald, a Boston-based commercial insurance API company, raised $8M in seed funding led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, according to Axios.

Mightier, a Boston startup building a clinically proven video game system that helps children learn coping skills to improve their emotional health, announced a $17M Series B funding round.

Totus Medicines, a Cambridge-based biotech working on cancer drugs, launched out of stealth with $40M in Series A funding. 

Inrupt, a Boston-based Internet user data control platform, raised $30M in Series A funding led by Forte Ventures, according to TechCrunch.

K36 Therapeutics, a Cambridge-based biotech focused on multiple myeloma patients, raised $30M in Series A funding co-led by F-Prime Capital and Atlas Venture. 

Waltham-based healthcare startup connectRN closed $76M in its second round of venture capital investment.

METiS Therapeutics, a Cambridge computational biology startup, launched with $86M in Series A financing. 

Stride Funding, a Boston-based student finance startup, raised $12M in Series A funding, according to Axios.

NanoMosaic, a Boston-based biotech working on nanoneedles, closed an oversubscribed $40M Series A round of financing led by RA Capital Management, the company announced.

Droplette, a Boston-based consumer skincare technology company, raised $15M in a Series B round led by Victress Capital and Spark Capital

Slim.AI, an Acton-based software company, raised $10M in equity, according to an SEC filing.
