VC funding update: Which Boston startups raised money in October

Plenty of money flew into Boston's startups in October.

October was anything but spooky and chilly for Boston's startup and tech companies, which continued a hot streak as the VC money flew. Here's who raised funds and what they pulled in:

KingsCrowd, a Boston-based ratings and analytics platform for online private markets, raised $1.1M in convertible notes, according to an SEC filing.

Lowell Therapeutics, a Lowell biotech company, raised $3.8M in equity, according to an SEC filing.

Exo Therapeutics, a Cambridge-based biotech aiming to reprogram enzymes without patient side effects, raised $78M in Series B funding led by Nextech Invest.

Wise Systems, a Cambridge-based company developing an AI-driven routing and dispatching system, raised $50M in Series C financing, led by Tiger Global Management.

Cambridge cloud startup Solo.io achieved unicorn status after raising $135M in Series C funding. Altimeter Capital led the round, with participation from existing investors Redpoint Ventures and True Ventures.

SquadGurus, a Boston startup building a global network of IT providers, raised $200K, according to an SEC filing.

MIT-born Boston wearable tech startup Embr Labs Inc. raised nearly $6M as part of an equity offering worth almost $30M, according to a Form D.

Aura Biosciences, a Cambridge-based biotech working on ocular and urologic solid tumors, filed for an IPO and raised over $200M, according to an SEC filing.

Entrada Therapeutics, a Boston-based company developing therapies for neuromuscular diseases, filed for an IPO and raised more than $200M, according to an SEC filing.

Battery Resources, a Worcester-based company operating a lithium-ion battery recycling process, raised $70M from investors led by Orbia, which had earlier this year invested $20M in the company. 

Black Kite, a Boston-based cybersecurity company that sells software to companies to assess the cybersecurity risk levels of their contractors and vendors, raised $22M in a Series B round led by the local firm Volition Capital.

Healthcare data startup ScienceIO emerged from stealth mode with $8 million in seed funding from investors including Section 32 and Sea Lane Ventures. 

Data security startup Cytrio raised $3.5 million in seed funding from angel investors and institutional seed investors, including Dreamit Ventures, Food Retail Ventures and Rockwood Group.

Odyssey Therapeutics, a Medfield-based biotech company incorporated this year, raised a $91.6M equity round, according to an SEC filing. 

Spear Bio, a Weston-based biotech company working on detecting ultrasensitive proteins, raised $1.5M as part of an offering of debt and other securities worth $10 million, according to a new SEC filing. 

Boston micromobility technology firm Zoba closed a $12 million series A funding round, led by Palo Alto, California venture firm NTTVC.

Nirrin Technologies, a Billerica startup working on sensors and analytics that enable bioprocess automation, raised $8.5M in equity, according to an SEC filing.

Cometeer, a Gloucester-based frozen coffee company, raised $35M in Series B funding.

Via Separations, a Watertown-based industrial decarbonization startup, raised $38M in an oversubscribed Series B. The investment was led by NGP ETP with participation from The Engine, Safar Partners, Prime Impact Fund, Embark Ventures and the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center.

CIBO Technologies, a Cambridge company working on regenerative agriculture technology, raised $30M in Series C financing.

Digital rights management startup Molten raised $7 million led by Abstract Ventures

Circe Biosciences, a Somerville company working on decarbonizing food production raised $1.6M, according to an SEC filing. 

Micro Medical Solutions, a Wilmington-based medical tech company, raised $1.3M, according to an SEC filing. 

Chloris Geospatial, a Boston-based provider of remote sensing technology and services, raised $2.5M, according to an SEC filing. 

Gelsight Inc., a Waltham-based robotics company, raised $6M, according to a new SEC filing.

REsurety, a Boston startup working on analytics in the clean energy space, raised a $16M Series B, led by climate solutions investment firm Hannon Armstrong.
