Over 140 companies based in the Bay State have made this year's Inc. 5000 list, which ranks the fastest-growing privately held companies in the country.

The financial magazine compiles its annual ranking taking into account revenue growth over a three-year period, which in the latest installment looked at revenue from 2017 to 2020. The companies that were included are all based in the U.S., privately held, for-profit and independent (not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies) as of Dec. 31 last year.

To qualify for the list, companies need to meet some revenue thresholds, including having generated at least $2 million in revenue in 2020. To be eligible, companies don't need to be profitable.

The only Massachusetts company that cracked the top 10 is Revolutionary Clinics, which has two medical marijuana dispensaries in Cambridge as well as a grow facility in Fitchburg; it came in at No. 4 overall with 32,997% growth.

Other local companies on the list include online notary service Notarize and dog DNA testing company Embark Veterinary, which last month raised a new $75 million round led by SoftBank Vision Fund 2.

A total of 141 companies made this year's list. Of those, 71 were repeat honorees and 18 were new to the list, which is available here. These are the top 25 Massachusetts companies on this year's list:
