Cloud security company, likening its services to TSA, pitches new product

As millions of homebound employees led to heightened hacking fears, cloud security company iboss has a new offering amid many choosing to keep working from home.

CEO Paul Martini defines this new package as part of the company's overall services that are similar to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), the federal agency created after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. “The same way that TSA goes through bags looking for any malicious content or anything like that, we do the exact same thing, but through computer software,” Martini said.

The launch of its latest package follows iboss’ funding round of $145 million, raised in January and led by NightDragon.

According to the company, "the unlimited license package gives customers the flexibility they need to grow and scale their business, moving them away from 'per-user' licensing."

Rather than a physical package that companies purchase and install into each employee's computer, the iboss package works as a subscription service.

The technology works by having customer “data go through our service, then we isolate it completely for each customer. That's what we're performing -- the inspection,” Martini said.

The company is attempting to reduce the need for VPN, which companies use for security. VPN can create a bottleneck, throttling access for users, the company argues, saying its offerings allow "secure network traffic anywhere to protect against malware and data loss."

Earlier this year, the company added 50 employees across its offices, including a new chief product officer, as well as executives to handle marketing, technical operations, and intelligence and research.
