The top-read BostInno stories of 2020

One thing was clear about 2020: Everyone loves an #OfficeEnvy. 

Nearly half of the 20 most-visited stories published by BostInno this year were of enviable offices, which is impressive given that those tapered off significantly after March. Still, the numbers are themselves proof of adaptation. The No. 1 story this year was a look inside reader-submitted home offices shortly after the remote-work surge; the No. 10 spot is held by a roundup of pets helping their people work from home.

The second-largest trend we saw in our look at annual website traffic was decidedly sadder: Companies across the Boston area laid off workers as the coronavirus pandemic roiled entire economic sectors, with travel and hospitality among the hardest hit. It wasn’t all bad, though — near the beginning of the year, tech companies combined their efforts to put on a pop-up job fair (remember that?), and firms with greater cash runways scooped up some of the people who had been let go elsewhere.
