There were a few leadership shakeups for the Boston tech world in September, with Perfecto Mobile, CloudHealth Technologies and QuickPivot all announcing new leaders.
But those were just a fraction of the personnel moves that happened last month. Other big moves happened at HubSpot, Drift, PatientPing, InsightSquared and Catalant.

• 55 Institutional, an investment science and technology firm, hired Paul Gamble as its new CEO. Gamble, who will split his time between Boston and New York, was previously EVP at Financial Engines.
• Ace-up, a coaching platform, announced three new hires. C.W. Estoff joined the team as COO and co-founder. Previously, Estoff was SVP of customer success at EverFi. Pat Shreckengast is the new head of sales and marketing, and was previously a senior account manager with Gartner. Phillip Longman joined as a developer after his tenure as the product manager at SalesEQUITY.
• Akamai Deputy General Counsel Aaron Ahola succeeded Melanie Haratunian as SVP, general counsel and corporate secretary. Ahola joined Akamai in 2000.
• Capsule8, a Brooklyn-based cybersecurity startup, hired InkHouse Media co-founder Meg O'Leary as its CMO.
• Care.com appointed George Bell as the lead independent director of its board. Bell was formerly the CEO of Jumtap.
• Catalant Technologies hired Anitha Gopalan as its new CFO. Before joining the company, Gopalan was a VP of finance at Rapid7.
• ClimaCell made a few personnel announcements: It hired Mowingo co-founder and former Quattro Wireless exec Ehud Grunfeld as its new CTO, replacing co-founder Itai Zlotnik, who will now serve as chief vision officer. It also hired Daniel Rothenberg, an atmospheric scientist at MIT, as its new director of meteorology. The company's VP of engineering, Andrew Novikov, left.
• CloudHealth Technologies named Tom Axbey as its new CEO. Axbey, who was previously CEO of Rave Mobile Safety, replaces co-founder Dan Phillips, who will remain as chairman.
• Continuum, an IT service platform provider, hired Tasos Tsolakis as its new SVP of global service delivery. He was previously CIO and EVP of global services at Iron Mountain.
• Converge Principal Ash Egan stepped down from the venture capital firm. He is now a principal at Ethereum startup and incubator ConsenSys.
• CyberSaint added Jack Hembrough to its board of directors of. According to his LinkedIn profile, Hembrough is also a member on the board of Pwnie Express.
• Cyber X, a cybersecurity startup, made three executive appointments: Joe DiPietro as VP of customer success, Buck Watia as VP of business development, and Liat Soffer as CFO. DiPietro previously held leadership roles at IBM and Guardium, Watia was most recently at Rapid7, and Soffer held leadership roles at Pango Mobile Parking and ForeScout Technologies.
• DataRobot hired Sean Gardiner as its EVP of business development, CRN reported. Gardiner previously held channel sales roles at Alteryx and Dell.
• Dell EMC Head David Goulden has stepped down, Fortune reported. Goulden's successor is Jeff Clarke, who will assume the responsibility of Dell Technologies' data center equipment business. Clarke will also be in charge of Dell's client solutions business.
• Digital Alloys, a local metal 3D printer startup, announced the addition of several people to its board of directors and board of advisors. They include former Netezza CEO Jim Baum, Dover Motion CTO Kevin McCarthy, Digital Feedback Technologies CTO Yahali Theodor and four MIT professors.
• Drafted, which raised money from Slack earlier this year, hired Christian Palombo as its new head of sales. Palombo was previously VP of sales at IPO hopeful EverQuote.
• Drift hired Guillaume Cabane as VP of growth to lead the company's San Francisco office. Previously, Cabane held the same position at Segment. Also, Drift co-founder and CEO David Cancel joined the board of directors for Minneapolis-based Leadpages.
• Drizly appointed former Walmart CEO Bill Simon as the first independent director to sit on the company's board of directors.
• Edgewise Networks, a cybersecurity startup, hired Tom Hickman as VP of engineering and Nagraj Seshadri as VP of marketing. Hickman previously had leadership roles at Veracode and Iron Mountain. Seshadri was most recently at Recorded Future.
• General Catalyst added Holly Maloney McConnell as a new managing director. She was most recently a principal at Guidepost Growth Equity, formerly known as North Bridge.
• GSX Solutions promoted Gary Steere to CTO. Steere joined the company earlier this year as VP of Americas.
• HubSpot hired Scott Brinker as its VP of platform ecosystem. Brinker was previously co-founder and CTO at Ion Interactive, an interactive content marketing platform. He has also been an editor for the Chief Marketing Technologist blog.
• Imprivata CTO David Ting left the company, Xconomy reported. Ting told the news site that it was the right timing. There are no details yet on what his next move will be.
• Indigo appointed Dr. Jonathan McIntyre as the company’s head of research and development. Most recently, McIntyre served as SVP of R&D at PepsiCo.
• InsightSquared made a few leadership appointments. The company added Geoffrey Greene as its CTO, Matisha Ladiwala as general manager of its Slate product, and Kia Puhm as an advisor and interim head of services. Greene was previously CTO at Valore, Ladiwala was most recently VP of product at Mautic, and Puhm founded KIA CX Consulting and has held exec roles at Oracle, Eloqua and other companies. The company also promoted Joe Chernov from VP of marketing to CMO and Jared Sharp from director of HR to VP of people operations.
• LinkSquares hired Eric Alexander, a former senior software engineer at Datto, as its CTO.
• Mirakl, a French ecommerce software company that has a Boston office, has added former Demandware CEO Tom Ebling to its board of directors. Ebling became an executive-in-residence at General Catalyst earlier this year.
• NorthOut, an artificial intelligence development services company, hired Eric Healy as its new CEO. Previously, he served as president and board member of MyWebGrocer.
• Paint Nite hired David Krauter as its new CEO. He was previously president at Smarter Travel, a TripAdvisor company.
• PatientPing hired Dave Rodger as its head of product. Rodger was previously vice president of product at Spotify, which he joined through the company’s 2014 acquisition of Somerville-based The Echo Nest. Prior to joining The Echo Nest in 2011, he held roles at TripAdvisor and SimpleTuition.
• Pegasystems hired Frank Guerrera as its new chief technical systems officer. Most recently, he served as VP of SaaS services at Hewlett Packard Enterprise.
• Perfecto Mobile, an under-the-radar IPO candidate based in Burlington, hired former North Bridge venture capitalist Jim Moran as its executive chairman. Before he was managing director at North Bridge, Moran held executive roles at Boston-area companies that were either acquired (Convergence Networks, edocs) or went public (Virtusa, CheckFree Corporation).
• QuickBase appointed Jay Jamison as its new SVP of strategy and product. Recently, Jamison served as VP of strategy for Hewlett Packard Enterprise.
• QuickPivot named Bob Boehnlein as its new CEO. He has served on the company’s board of directors since November 2016, and previously founded big data consultancy Perscio.
• Rave Mobile Safety, a Framingham-based provider of critical communication software, announced that the company's chief product officer, Todd Piett, will take over the CEO role from Tom Axbey, who will remain an advisor and was named CEO of CloudHealth Technologies. The company also appointed Brad Rosenblum as CFO and Todd Miller as COO. Rosenblum was most recently CFO of Massachusetts Life Sciences Center, and Miller was previously the company's VP of public safety.
• Semafone, a Boston and UK-based contact center security firm, has appointed John Donaldson as CFO. Previously, Donaldson held the same position at Nowtel Group.
• SmartBear, whose Somerville office we toured a few months ago, hired Christian Wright as its new EVP and general manager of its API business. Previously, Wright held multiple CTO and GM positions within eBay Enterprise.
• Swoop added Inderpal Bhandari, global chief data officer at IBM, to its board of directors. He previously held executive positions with Cambia Health Solutions, Express Scripts and Medco.
• Techstars Boston hired Aaron O'Hearn as its director. This is a homecoming of sorts for O'Hearn, who served as the startup accelerator's head of special projects from 2011 to 2012 and went on to help found Startup Institute, for which he served as CEO before Diane Hessan joined. O'Hearn, who will help run Techstars Boston alongside Clement Cazalot, wrote a blog post about what brought him to this point right here.
• The MIT-IBM Watson AI Lab named Antonio Torralba as its new director. Torralba is a professor in the MIT Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
• Turbonomic hired former Qlik and RSA executive Mark Thurmond as its first COO. The company, which I would consider an IPO candidate, has been fleshing out its leadership team this year, hiring executives from Microsoft, HP and Pure Storage.
• Underscore.VC added Bryan House as an entrepreneur-in-residence. He was previously a longtime executive at Acquia, where he most recently served as chief of staff to the CEO.
• Wayfair landed Keith DuFresne as its new head of product design. He was previously Priceline's head of product.
• WegoWise, a provider of utility tracking software, made a number of executive appointments over the past year. They include Dan Teague, who was promoted to chief strategy officer; Joe Cordo, a former QuickPivot CMO who was hired to take on the same position; Wistar Wood, who was hired as chief sales officer; Jagathi Gururajan, who was hired as COO after working at Thomson Reuters; Kristen Vonsmith, who joined as VP of finance; and Jack Wood, who joined as head of engineering after serving as CIO at Wayfair.
• Zagster, a bike-share startup, hired former Wayfair executive Nicholas Malone as its new CFO. Malone served as Wayfair’s CFO from 2005 to 2013, when he became chief administrative officer and treasurer, his most recent role.
• Zipcar added Jeff Prus as its new VP of product and experience. He was previously head of product management and experience design at Intuit, where he worked on QuickBase, which the company divested last year.
