'Ship Snow Yo' Is Back and More Prolific Than Ever

This holiday season, what do you get the person who has everything?

Jewelry and clothing doesn't take a lot of imagination. Booze is fun, but fleeting. And nobody actually needs one of those cologne sets from Macy's. More and more, experiences are winning the day. And true to form, one local startup is capitalizing on just that.

Back by popular demand, Boston startup Ship Snow Yo is sending more white stuff around the country than ever before. And they've increased their portfolio since last year, too.

Founder Kyle Waring told BostInno the company has nearly doubled total gross sales since last December. (They also added foliage this year.) A key factor? Corporate clients.

"Things are starting to avalanche over here at Ship Snow Yo with over 1,200 lbs. of snow being shipped out this year for Christmas Eve!" Waring told me. "A big driver behind this growth has been corporate customers buying larger sized boxes." Approximately half of their orders this year are for boxes 20-plus pounds. Last year bulk orders of that magnitude accounted for just 10 percent of sales.

Ship Snow Yo does exactly what its name implies: Simply choose the amount of snow you want and Waring and company will pack some of the fresh stuff from Stowe, Warren or Colchester, Vermont, and send it overnight in a Styrofoam cooler straight to your doorstep.

Products range from a 10-pound box all the way up to the behemoth "blizzard in a box" – a 50-pound crate of packed powder new to the lineup this year that'll run you a cool $250.

Waring has also improved their snowman kits, this year adding a tophat and a felt scarf. You can add a snowball maker to the mix, as well. The 20-pound box provides "enough snow for 30-40 medium sized snowballs" and can be sent internationally to China in three days for $350.

If this all sounds too good to pass up, know that the last-minute order deadline for Christmas Eve arrival is 4 p.m. this Friday.
