This New Year's Eve, a new beer bar joins the ranks in Fort Point.
City Tap House is slated to "open its doors softly" at 10 Boston Wharf Road this December 31, offering an a la carte dinner service and champagne bar beginning at 5:00 p.m. The following morning, they'll attempt to ease you and your headache into 2017 with a "hungover brunch."
For Fort Point, a neighborhood with a small but impactful slate of bars and restaurants, it's a welcome addition to the neighborhood.
"Demographically it's exactly the type of neighborhood we look to put City Tap House locations in. We view ourselves as an ‘elevated American pub’ and every good emerging neighborhood needs a local pub," City Tap House Brand Director Andy Farrell told me. "We want to foster regularity with the residents and the business professionals in Fort Point. The proximity to the Convention Center and Seaport District also were something that was exciting to us as a brand growing on the East Coast."
City Tap House has two locations in Philadelphia and others in Washington D.C. and Wast Palm Beach. It's Boston location situates it a stone's throw from the likes of Tavern Road, Pastoral and Row 34.
Food and craft beer will be competing for your attention here. Starters like Sriracha roasted cauliflower, ten spice wings and pork Arancini will prime the pumps for entrees including a salmon BLT, maple brined pork chops and crispy suckling pig. Assorted wood-fired pizzas will also be in the mix.
Not to be outdone, City Tap House Fort Point will offer 60 draught beer lines and 100 selections in total.
"At its core, City Tap House is an ale and lager paradise with pours ranging from local, American regional and European heritage brands," Farrell said. "The City Tap House beer philosophy is to showcase a wide variety of breweries and number of styles, dedicating about half its list to core labels that are available year-round while the other half is reserved for dynamic options such as seasonal specialties, limited barrel runs, collaborations and new releases."
A full array of spirits including signature cocktails and "a focus on sophisticated brown liquors" will be on hand as well.
Farrell told me working with local breweries is "hugely important to our beer program." City Tap will offer regional favorites like Harpoon, Sam Adams, Jack's Abby, Banded Horn, Aeronaut, Notch and Lord Hobo.
As for Night Shift and neighbor Trillium? "Hopefully soon," he said.
"Breweries make beer to see it enjoyed on tap by loyal and new beer drinkers. New craft beer drinkers help local breweries keep going," said Farrell, adding, "City Tap House’s mission is to deliver an approachable and engaging guest experience, free of pretension, so all can enjoy the fruits of the craft beer movement with every visit."
