Boston's Battle to Create 'Inclusive Networks'

As the Boston 2024 discussion continues, there remains a measurable part of Massachusetts who have either not even heard about the bid, or have no opinion of it. In a recent WBUR poll, 43 percent of those surveyed had "never heard of" Boston 2024. Beyond that, 19 percent have heard of the group pitching the 2024 Summer Games to the region, but had "no opinion" or are "undecided" on it.

And many aren't focused on the bid itself, but instead the long term goals of the city and region as a whole. Though he doesn't define a stance either in favor of or opposed to Boston 2024, InnerCity Weightlifting co-founder Jon Feinman discussed in a recent interview with BostInno what he wants for the future.

"What I'd love to really see happen is for us to become an inclusive city, where all you people get to benefit from the same inclusive networks" said Feinman, who has worked tirelessly as part of InnerCity to help unite different groups in a positive way.

Whether or not the Olympic bid plays any role in the discussion of creating a more "inclusive network" for Boston is far from a settled discussion. Either way, Feinman and InnerCity will continue their mission of providing an outlet for some in the city who have been forgotten or given up on.

The interview with Feinman was conducted as part of a project for a film about the Boston 2024 bid for BostInno's State of Innovation. Full disclosure: Boston 2024 is one of BostInno's sponsors at the State of Innovation event.
