Rally Sports, a Boston-based sports merchandise company, is teaming up with General Assembly for a panel discussion featuring area fitness apparel companies and how they have become the top in the industry.
Building and Growing a Running Apparel Brand is being held on Wednesday, May 27 from 6:30 - 9 p.m. Admission is free and all are encouraged to come for both an engaging discussion on how to build a fitness brand as well as post-panel networking.
New Balance, City Sports and Saucony are among those being represented at this healthy event. And according to its event site, "You'll learn how these companies find and engage customers, and build compelling narratives for their products."
I recently had the opportunity to speak with CEO and founder of Rally Sports, Chas Wagner, about this event. And while you don't need to be a fitness professional or avid runner to attend, a passion for health and wellness is definitely helpful.
Caroline Earle: What inspired the idea for this panel discussion?
Chas Wagner: Kenny (co-founder) and I used to work at RunKeeper, so, that helped get the conversation going. Plus, these companies saw it as a great opportunity to tell their brand story in a non sales-ey, low-key kind of way.
The Boston community will get to meet the real people behind these amazing running companies.
CE: With all of the fitness sneaker brands in Boston, how did Rally Sports land with New Balance and Saucony as presenters?
CW: There's so much cool stuff happening in the running space in Boston, but each brand is so heads down and cranking on product, that it's really hard for them to come up for air and look at the bigger picture. Since Rally's mission is to build passionate communities around sports, it was a no-brainer for us to "rally" these different brands together!
