After 56 matchups, we are down to the Quarter Finals of the 2017 Tech Madness Bracket. We've posted the updated regions below, complete with the 8 Boston tech companies that are still dancing, as well as how to vote for who you think should make it to the Semi Finals.
As a reminder, Tech Madness is a friendly competition designed to generate awareness, excitement, and buzz for the city's thriving innovation economy and the companies that are helping shape and strengthen the ecosystem.
Each matchup in Tech Madness is determined by community voting, with readers just needing to answer one question to decide who moves on - Who do you think will have the greater impact in five years?
The competition was fierce this round, and we saw some big upsets from The Last Sixteen. The closest matchup was over in the "Bang a U-ey" Conference, where we saw #6 seed, DataDog, inch out #15 seed, Crayon, by just a few votes. Also in the "I Have an IdeaR" Conference we witnessed #11 seed, Bullhorn, rise above #2 seed, Wayfair in a tight race. Who will make it to the Semi Finals? - (12): Toast - A growing restaurant point-of-sales software company that raised a round of $30 million in Series B funding in 2016 and added 200 more employees in the past year.
- (6): DataDog - A cloud-scale monitoring system used by IT, operations and development teams. They're growing like crazy.
- (8): ezCater - An online business catering marketplace that has now raised $70 million total funding in the last year and a half, and who has also doubled their team in one year.
- (11): Bullhorn - A local customer relationship management software that has nearly doubled its office size and has plans to add 100 new employees to their team.
- (12): InsightSquared - A sales performance and analytics solution, that has been around since 2011, provides data for SaaS businesses both large and small.
- (10): Drizly - An alcohol delivery service now delivering in 40 markets in the United States and Canada. Raised a total of $33 million since their start in 2012, and plans to add 15-20 new employees within the year.
- (8): Formlabs - A high-resolution 3D printing technology company. They raised $55 million in investment to date to meet worldwide demand and create new products to make 3D printing widely accessible.
- (7): Cybereason - Cybereason is a leading cybersecurity company, offering endpoint detection and response, next-generation antivirus, managed monitoring services, and IR services. In 2016, the company has increased revenue by 300 percent and tripled its workforce.
