As Valentine’s Day approaches, we here at BostInno want to give our single and maybe struggling readers a little perspective.

It’s (probably) not you, it’s this city.

Monday, February 13

Chase Garbarino, the co-founder and CEO of VentureApp and the founder of Streetwise Media, will be speaking at an event hosted by Startup Grind. Along with networking opportunities, he will be hosting a “fireside chat” about his experience as an entrepreneur from 6:00 p.m. to 9, at Pivotal in Cambridge. Tickets range from $10 to $20.

Boston Green Tech and Sustainable Energy is hosting a meetup at Eastern Bank in Cambridge, for green tech entrepreneurs. From 7 p.m. to 10, brainstorm and share ideas on startups with fellow “Greenites.” Bring your 3-5 minute elevator pitch, and be ready to discuss your strengths, weaknesses, and needs with other collaborators. The event will also feature seminars by sustainable energy engineers. The event is free, just make sure to RSVP.

World Economic Forum Debriefing: swissnex Boston is hosting this annual event for Boston-area individuals to hear about latest models of innovation, geopolitical currents and the state of international business. Held at Cambridge Public Library, the event runs from 6 p.m. to 9. The featured panel includes participants of the World Economic Forum and is moderated by Paul Smyke, the head of North America, a member of the executive committee, World Economic Forum US. This event is sold out.

Designing Thinking Crash Course: General Assembly hosts this beginner workshop from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 at its Boston office. Geared toward innovative thinking and shifting mindsets, this course is being led by Jason Goodwin, the director of innovation practice and enablement at LOFT (Lab of Forward Thinking). Tickets are $40.

Tuesday, February 14

Wednesday, February 15

Out in Tech Boston is hosting its 2017 social kickoff at 21 Broad Street, the Market in the Financial District. The night starts at 6 p.m, and you must be 21+ to attend the meetup.The event is free, but you must RSVP via Eventbrite.

Free Circuit Hacking Night 2017: Held by Artisan’s Asylum, this free event invites new and old hackers to experience the electronic and robotics lab from 6:00 p.m. to 8. The night is held at Artisan’s Asylum, which is located at 10 Tyler Street, Somerville. For newbies, there is a free introductory lesson, along with kits on hand for those interested in working on projects. All sales and donations go toward upkeep of the Electronics and Robotics lab. The event is free.

Code & Coffee Boston is having it’s February meetup from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Microsoft NERD Center. The morning will include introductions, informal working sessions and of course - coding. The event is free.

Machine Learning Made Easy: Hosted by Boston PHP, this event is held at Wayfair, from 6:00 p.m. to 9. The session is an introduction to machine learning, specifically on how to integrate it into web applications. The feature presentation showcases James Sturtevant, who partners with Microsoft and has over 10 years of tech experience. This event is free.

Thursday, February 16

Smart Cities: Building Tech Forum 2017: From 5:30 p.m. to 8:30, U.S. Green Building Chapter Massachusetts (USGBC MA) is hosting a forum on the intersection of sustainability, management, and impact. It is held at Fraunhofer Center for Sustainable Energy Systems, at 5 Channel Center Street. The panel includes Jascha Franklin-Hodge, the City of Boston’s chief information officer, Gretchen Sweeney, the vice president for implementation at arcskoru.com, and Jennie Stephens, Dean’s professor of Sustainability Science and Policy at Northeastern University. Tickets range from $25, if you’re a student, to $150, if you want to join the chapter and attend.

Introduction to Hololens: Microsoft DevBoston is hosting an event in partnership with Boston AR, from 6:00 p.m. to 8 in Microsoft Corporation, in Burlington. Christi Kaes, a senior software engineer at Vistaprint will be introducing the Hololens, as well as inviting attendees to try out the product as well. For those interested in VR, rsvp via meet-up. The event is free.

Tech Innovation in Boston and Beyond: This event is run by The Publicity Club of New England and highlights the startup hub that Boston has grown to become. It is held at Racepoint Global, from 6:00 p.m. to 8. The featured panel includes Scott Kirsner, an esteemed Boston Globe Tech and Innovation columnist, and Joseph Flaherty, director of content and community at Founder Collective. Tickets range from $0 to $60.

The Future of Transportation, a Boston view: ICYMI, Boston startups are all over the latest trend of automated vehicles and transportation. This event touches upon Boston’s future of technological advances in regards to transportation and is held by the Mass Technology Leadership Council. The event is held at 25 DryDock Ave, from 1 p.m. to 6. Tickets are $125 for MassTLC members and $250 for non-members.

Friday, February 17

Hear from Bobak Ferdowsi: "NASA's Mohawk Guy" & Engineer @ NASA’s JPL: While mohawks and Space talk are enough to make me want to skip class and attend, here’s one more reason: it’s free. NASA's "Mohawk Guy" Bobak Ferdowsi is coming to Fong Auditorium in Cambridge, to talk about his work at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Sound familiar? He became famous after his mohawk was seen on NASA’s broadcast of the Curiosity rover landing on Mars. The talk is from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30, and it is free to attend.

The Rise of the Quantified Athlete: An Experiential Forum on the Future of Athletic Performance: Hosted at Harvard Innovation Lab, this forum is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event features a collaboration between Harvard Innovation Lab, Sports Innovation Lab, and OneTeam Collective, to further the discussion on sports technology and innovation. Attendees include ESPN host and former NFL quarterback Matt Hasselbeck and Harvard Graduate and New York Jets’ quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. This event is free, but you must register.

Invention, Entrepreneurship, & Sustainability: A Panel Discussion on Building Sustainable Businesses: Another tree-friendly event this week is being held from 4:30 p.m. to 7 in Greentown Labs, in Somerville. Panelists include John Warner, from Warner Babcock Institute for Green Chemistry, Rick Hamilton, from IBM Watson IoT Division, Anthony Mulligan, of Hydronalix, Inc, Huda Elasaad of PV Pure, a Greentown Labs Member Company. The event is sponsored by American Association for the Advancement of Science and is free to attend.

Saturday, February 18

2017 MIT Tech Conference: This year, MIT’s annual conference is themed around innovative Exponential Technologies. This includes augmented reality, virtual reality, artificial intelligence, and robotics. It’s hosted at MIT Media Lab from 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. This event is sold out.
