VC funding update: Boston startups raised more than $1.2B in May

15 startups gained millions in funding in May (and that’s just based off of what we could count).

Of the 15 on our radar, Formlabs, a 3D-printing company, raised the most. Its $150M funding round was led by SoftBank Vision Fund 2.

Emvolon, a technology company working to eliminate chemical waste, announced a $1.5M seed investment led by The Engine. The investment will aid the company in its mission of turning wasted natural gas into usable energy, according to Emvolon.

Neuroelectrics, a producer of brain stimulation technology, raised $17.5M in a Series A funding led by Morningside Ventures. The funding will go to developing Neuroelectrics's transcranial electrical stimulation (tES) therapeutic platform.

Elucid, a telehealth company that works to reduce the costs of cardiovascular diagnostics, raised $8 million in Series A financing led by MedTex Ventures and Global Health Impact Fund. The funding will go to increasing Elucid's technological advancement. 

VIA, an AI and privacy-preserving company, raised $10 million in its Series A financing, led by Westly Group. This round will fuel expanding the company's employee base and international customers. 

Aryeo, a proptech startup that works to better manage content in the real estate industry, announced that it raised $3.65M in seed funding, led by Hyperplane VC and Amplo with participation from Contrary. The funding will go to improving Aryeo's technological abilities and new hires.

Formlabs, a 3D-printing company,  announced it raised $150M in its Series E funding round led by SoftBank Vision Fund 2. The funding will go to increasing 3D printing technology and hiring in its global offices. 

Wasabi, the cloud storage company founded by serial entrepreneur David Friend, raised $25M in funding led by Prosperity7 Ventures. This brings its Series C funding round to $137M. The funding will go to increase the number of Wasabi's data centers and grow the company’s distribution channels. 

Immuta, a data engineering company that offers cloud access control, announced it has secured $90M in Series D funding. The funding was led by Greenspring Associates. The funding will go towards accelerating Immuta’s product research and development.

Stavvy, a fintech company, raised $40M+ in its Series A funding round. The investment was led by Morningside Technology Ventures. The funding will go to "aggressive" hiring.

Torii, a real estate brokerage app, raised $3.2M in its seed funding round with a $1M investment from Lookout founder Kevin Mahaffey.

Corvus, an AI powered insurance company, raised $15M in Series C financing led by  FinTLVand Aquiline Technology Growth. The funding will go to furthering the development of its insurtech technology. 

Perch, a technology commerce company, closed its Series A funding round at $775M. The round was led by the Softbank Vision Fund 2.

Prismic, a customizable website builder company, raised $20M in funding to expand its hiring efforts and global market. The Series A funding is co-led by Aglaé Ventures and Eurazeo.

Immuta, a cloud data access control company, raised $90M in a Series D financing led by Greenspring Associates. The investment will go to enhancing its market leadership position and growing its technological capabilities.
