A new tech startup that will allow customers to rent unused, private trailers close to their location is scheduled to go live this month.

TRAILR is essentially a two-sided marketplace that matches people who need a trailer for their personal use — whether it be for a move, to haul a boat or car or even a horse trailer — with those who own them and are willing to rent them.

Think Airbnb, but for trailers.

“TRAILR provides the platform that allows users to find private trailers near them and exactly what they need to complete their job,” according to a fact sheet about the tech startup. “It also provides a space to make extra income on a trailer that is usually dormant.”

The app is the brainchild of Birmingham-based Jacob Williams, who has been working with a local team for about nine months to get the project going; the app itself was mostly developed through Innovation Depot.

While the site is live, it will not fully work until it launches later this month. The mobile app is scheduled to launch this summer.
