Moreson Conferencing, a Birmingham-based company that provides conference call technology for customers around the globe, is closing its doors.
Mark Jackson, CEO, said he decided to shut down Moreson, effective Dec. 31, due to the attrition of its customer base caused by Zoom.
Moreson’s employee count has diminished during the last three years, Jackson said, with two contracted part-time workers remaining. One will take a full-time position elsewhere, and one has been offered a full-time position with BlueDot.
His next endeavor: preparing to launch BlueDot to compete with Zoom, a move Jackson said will allow him to “take customers back." BlueDot is a global video meeting platform concentrating on providing a higher level of security protocols, language translation and other functionalities. It will be launched globally from the United States, Jackson said, adding that BlueDot will compete with Zoom, Teams and other online meeting platforms.
BlueDot is currently in its capital raise phase and has a board with members on three continents. Jackson has assembled a team consisting of sales, accounting, business development, marketing and technology professionals for the venture.
Jackson said his target is to have a million users 12 months after launch, which is planned for the first quarter of 2024, following the completion of the company's capital round.
