Two former C-suite executives at NXTsoft are launching a Birmingham-based software company, DevClarity.

William Blackburn, former chief technology officer at NXTsoft, and Peter Inge, former chief financial officer at NXTsoft, are the co-founders.

"DevClarity’s mission is to maximize the potential of every software development leader," Blackburn said. "We are beginning with the early access release of DevClarity Pulse – an (artificial intelligence)-based software tool designed to help development leaders keep a real-time pulse on large/remote dev teams. With DevClarity Pulse, we aggregate developer input, manager feedback and dev-specific data to generate real-time insights into development teams, allowing managers to pulse check their orgs in seconds."

The platform proactively prompts managers on areas of concern based on the trends and themes that are uncovered, aiming to help them spot potential issues before they arise, Blackburn added.

"This is just the first step in a much bigger vision," Inge said. "Our goal is to revolutionize the way that dev leaders manage their teams by building the first platform specifically dedicated to the unique challenges they face. We think this matters, especially to Birmingham companies, as Birmingham hopes to attract and retain tech talent."

The journey began a few years ago at the founders' previous software company where they saw firsthand the challenges that come with scaling a dev organization in a hybrid and remote world. After the NXTsoft was acquired in December 2022, the founders sought a solution to those challenges.

"We suspected we weren’t alone in facing these difficulties and knew there had to be a better way to solve them, so we began talking to dozens of companies with software development teams, across a variety of industries and sizes. We heard the same stories over and over again of the pain points in managing dev orgs and the lack of good solutions," a statement from the founders read.

The early access program is being launched for a select group of customers and the founders are looking for additional companies to join.
