XpertDox, a data analytics company founded by physician-scientists at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, is growing via expanding its specialties, garnering contracts and hiring.
The company is on a mission to improve access to clinical trials and automate the medical coding process. It saw revenue growth of 110% year over year and recently expanded its specialties to urgent care, family care, pediatrics and urology. It plans to add one specialty every quarter going forward.
In September, the firm closed a $1.5 million round of funding. The round was highlighted by an investment from the leadership of TN3 LLC, an Arizona-based private equity capital firm.
XpertDox also recently snagged two major partnerships.
Over the past 12 months, the company has hired six people at its Birmingham office, doubling its headcount. Globally, XpertDox now has about 40 team members.
"We are projected to continue to expand over the next few months, hiring in our Birmingham office and our India subsidiary," said Dakota Tippet, administrative assistant at XpertDox. "By the end of this year, we expect our teams to double in Birmingham and (with) our subsidiary company, XIPL."
Those new roles being added include Python developers, SAS developers, business development roles and medical auditors.
The company has deep roots in Birmingham. Based at Innovation Depot, XpertDox started in a small office space in the incubator and has upgraded to one of the largest spaces in the building.
"XpertDox owes its origins to Birmingham because of UAB," Tippet said. "Both of XpertDox’s co-founders came to Birmingham because of UAB to practice and study."
Most of the company's early and current investors are from the Birmingham community, including many physicians, according to Tippet, and one of the company's first clients was UAB.
