A conference focused on entrepreneurship is expected to attract as many as 800 entrepreneurs to Birmingham next year.

The annual United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship conference will be hosted in the Magic City in January 2024.

USASBE has a reputation as a premier professional organization for entrepreneurship educators. It defines itself as an inclusive community advancing entrepreneurship education through teaching, scholarship and practice. Its members include teachers, researchers, program directors and practitioners.

The University of Alabama at Birmingham Barefield Entrepreneurship Program is serving as conference host sponsor, along with core sponsors University of Alabama, University of Alabama in Huntsville, Auburn University, Samford University and Birmingham-Southern College.

The Barefield Entrepreneurship Program has a mission that includes connecting entrepreneurs with high-impact consulting and outreach engagements. J. Frank Barefield Jr., the donor of a $5 million gift to name the program, believes entrepreneurship is what drives economic growth.

Over the next year, members of Birmingham's entrepreneurial ecosystem, partners and leaders in the city and state and supporters across the country will come together to prepare for the conference focused on power of entrepreneurship and education.
