On the heels of the news of Fledging closing in late November, Fledging CEO Ethan Summers unveiled plans for his newest project.

Extelli will launch in January with Summers serving as CEO.

"I learned a lot as CEO of Fledging, my first venture, including that lessons learned are just too expensive to become lessons lost," Summer said. "This new adventure, in partnership with Harmony Venture Labs, is a wonderful chance to help all kinds of people do their best work, the best way, happily based right here in Birmingham, Alabama."

Extelli allows users to create how-to guides and curate actionable knowledge libraries for their team and customers. It was inspired by the struggle of busy executives to find time to share what they know.

"That problem statement caught my attention during a Harmony Venture Labs open house this summer," Summer said. "I was living that challenge. As the busy executive of a struggling consumer electronics startup, sharing what I knew meant scrambling to put everything into a Google Doc so that an unsuspecting team member could try to learn in a few hours what I had learned over many years. It wasn’t going well."

Extelli allows users to use shared libraries and learning modules so team members can collaborate on building a database of curated knowledge and access it instantly.

"The human response is to start working right away instead of searching for the best practice, partly because we just don’t trust that the 'know how' we need already exists and is well-documented for our team," Summers said.

Users can currently join the waitlist or sign up for a demo.

Summers added that keeping quiet about the new venture was one of his "tougher happy challenges" of the year.
