Birmingham-based Insured Nomads has acquired new travel industry player, Peanut.

Insured Nomads provides health and travel insurance with various novel, tech-based features. Peanut is a web-based application that provides travelers with information on health risks, weather, entry requirements, hotel history, flight delay risk and insurance requirements.

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

“Adding Peanut to our travel protection portfolio helps individual and business customers travel as they wish with clear information  – and that’s vital in today’s fast-changing world,” Insured Nomads COO Brett Estep said. “After all, Covid-19 changed not only the way we travel, but how we define risk.”

Insured Nomads launched in 2019 and closed on a seven-figure pre-seed funding round in 2021, the BBJ reports. Alex Lakas and Brady Simpson cofounded Peanut, a Chrome extension based in Los Angelea, after discovering major needs for real-time travel information during the pandemic. It has since been covered in Forbes and travel publications.
