MGMWERX has a new Innovation Hub director who brings to the role experience in higher education, medical and military innovation.
Joyce Vaughn, who joined Montgomery-based MGMWERX three years ago, has been appointed to the role.
She will oversee administration, programs and strategic plans in addition to upholding fiscal integrity and the terms of the Partnership Intermediary Agreement, a contract between DEFENSEWERX, the Air Force Research Laboratory and Air University. That contract aims to facilitate academic and professional opportunities for furthering education and civilian collaboration.
“DEFENSEWERX is excited to have Joyce Vaughn as MGMWERX’s permanent Innovation Hub director," DEFENSEWERX CEO Brian Liesveld said in a release. "Joyce has proved to be a valuable asset to MGMWERX and our partner, Air University. By leveraging her experience and knowledge, Joyce will make a meaningful and lasting impact on the future of MGMWERX.”
MGMWERX was created under a Partnership Intermediary Agreement to align with the education initiatives of Air University. MGMWERX supports ongoing Air University programs to enhance the production of research and ideas that span issues of importance to the Air Force.
Housed in donated office space from the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce at 41 Commerce St., MGMWERX uses the Montgomery Internet Exchange. National nonprofit DEFENSEWERX operates the center, which serves as an incubator and is part of a collaboration with Air University, the city of Montgomery, Montgomery County and the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce.
