A Huntsville pharmaceutical research and development company will participate in a panel discussion sponsored by Pfizer (NYSE: PFE) at the BIO International Convention 2022 in San Diego this month.

Randall Moreadith, president and and chief executive officer, of Serina Theraputics Inc., will participate in the panel discussion titled “Delivering on the next mRNA breakthroughs."

Serina is a privately held pharmaceutical company located at the Hudson-Alpha Institute for Biotechnology that is developing novel polymer therapeutics based on its proprietary polyoxazoline technology. POZTM technology provides differential characteristics that may demonstrate improved safety, tolerability and clinical benefits versus PEG and other polymer-based technologies, according to a news release from Serina.

Serina also initiated collaborations in 2021-2022 with multiple companies at the forefront of developing the next generation of mRNA breakthroughs.

“I am delighted to join a distinguished group of life sciences executives at BIO 2022 to discuss the next breakthroughs in delivery of mRNA for a host of clinical indications, from Covid-19 vaccines to gene therapy to cancer immunotherapy and beyond,” Moreadith said.

BIO International Convention 2022 will be held as an in-person event for the first time since 2019. Thousands of life sciences experts from around the world will converge at the five-day convention, expected to draw 20,000 attendees from more than 60 countries.

Other panelists joining Moreadith at the June 13 Pfizer-sponsored event include

  • Kathy Fernando, head of mRNA scientific planning and operations worldwide research, development and medical, Pfizer
  • Nathaniel Wang, co-founder and CEO, Replicate Bioscience
  • Benjamin Oakes, co-founder, president and CEO, Scribe Therapeutics
  • Piotr Stepniak, director of business development, ExploRNA Therapeutics

Birmingham-based scientist and CerFlux Inc. CEO Karim Budhwani will also lead a panel at the 2022 BIO international convention.

CerFlux is a partnering company for the convention. Additional Alabama partnering companies include Birmingham-based companies Soluble Biotech and TriAltus Bioscience.
