A new advisory board has been named for HData, a provider of data analytics and analytical tools for the regulated energy industry.
HData, which relocated to Birmingham in December 2021 and is a former Techstars participant, has named multiple members of Alabama Power to its board to boost its capabilities in the energy realm.
Board members include industry experts with decades of experience in energy regulation, finance and consulting. Among them are two former chairs of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Jon Wellinghoff, CEO of GridPolicy, and Neil Chatterjee, senior adviser with Hogan Lovells.
Other new members include Becky Blalock, former senior vice president and chief information officer with Southern Co.; Chris Blake, assistant treasurer of Alabama Power Co.; Alyssa Arnold, CEO of ATex Energy Consulting and Hiren Patel, corporate accelerator manager with Alabama Power Co.
“As we formed this group, we intentionally recruited a range of experience, but every adviser has made a permanent imprint on the regulated energy sector in the United States,” said Hudson Hollister, CEO of HData.
The company automates manual processes for people who comply with regulations, enforce regulations and use regulatory data. HData is a RegTech company that delivers streamlined compliance and business intelligence to the U.S. energy industry. The company’s mission is to digitize the interface between the public and private sectors.
“By digitizing the interface between energy regulators and the regulated energy industry, HData is deploying new technologies to help reduce the burden of regulatory work while enhancing the business value of regulatory information,” Chatterjee said.
HData, founded by Hollister in 2018, automates manual processes for people who comply with regulations, enforce regulations and use regulatory data. HData closed an oversubscribed $3.1 million seed investment round, led by Hyde Park Venture Partners and co-led by Firebrand Ventures, in December 2021.
