An Australian technology solutions company is planning to deploy smart city technology to the state capitol.
PMY Group, in collaboration with Intel, is crafting a smart city environment for the Five Points area in the city of Montgomery in 2022.
The smart city project will showcase numerous technologies to help neighborhood businesses. The initiative will improve residents' access to information, services and training opportunities. According to PMY Group, the technology will aim to improve the visitor experience by highlighting the history of the area. PMY and Intel will work together to create an internet-of-things-based smart city solution, which will include a private LTE network, Citizens Broadband Radio Service, a broad Wi-Fi network, access for a smart classroom and interactive booths to display city and historical information.
“We are excited to work with Intel to create a world-class smart city for Montgomery,” said Larry Witherspoon, senior vice president of revenue and industry partners for PMY Group. "This project will see some of the most useful and leading technologies come to life, and we hope every resident and business will be able to benefit from it.”
PMY will also work with Montgomery-based company 1Sync Technologies and the regional tech and art initiative I85 Cyber Corridor. They both will be providing services and expertise on the project, according to PMY Group.
“The smart city living lab project represents a first step in using technology to accelerate business growth, improve access to information, and utilize smart city technology to benefit our wonderful community,” said Eric Sloan, CEO of 1Sync Technologies. “We can’t wait to get going.”
